Hy-Form: Formic acid - chemical storage of electrical energy and on-site hydrogen production for use in PEM fuel cells
Abstract from the ARAMIS database
Future energy supply will be expanded by decentralised production and storage system, for the energy supplied by sun and wind with fluctuations in capacity and flow. Decentralised systems are needed for the storage of overproduction and compensation of over demand. Hydrogen will play a role as energy carrier. In this project a new system is proposed, where hydrogen is stored chemically as formic acid, and produced on demand in a medium-scale reactor from formic acid for the use in PEM fuel cells.
